EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR therapy is a brain- and body-based approach designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. During this eight-phase process, clients are guided to recall distressing experiences while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation (BLS), classically through guided eye movements (though there are many forms of BLS to explore!).
This dual process enables one’s system to reprocess the memories, reducing their emotional charge and altering the neurological pathways associated with trauma. Clients often experience significant reductions in symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression, leading to improved emotional well-being and resilience.
